Last cycling day

Image
Our last day! It's been a blast! Today was perfect cycling weather.  We had a mix of scenery from lighthouses and rocky cliffs ... To crop fields, marshes and rivers. We saw lots of "typical" Pei houses, and when you see a boat in their driveway it's a fishing boat. We saw a cute one room school house...built in 1802. Our lunch stop was at North Lake at a cute diner. Nor5h Lake is a little fishing village. We made it to the end of the island! East Point lighthouse is the end of the trail. Thanks for following along on our cycling trip. It has been a super fantastic adventure. We head to Toronto tomorrow to spend a few days with Brenda and Mike, then fly home on the 7th.

Cycling day 4

We were blessed with the perfect day for cycling...sunny, breezy but no strong winds. More beautiful countryside to see today. We take so many photos that it takes a while to get our route done!  Biking is such a great way to see a place, meet the locals and enjoy being outside. Fields of crops, wetlands and marshes and of course the many waterways. Some of our ride today was on roadways but much was on trails. We had to stop  for ice cream at a village called Mount Stewart. (Ice cream research of course.)  Good, but not as good as Crickers. Cute little town along the way called Morell.  Hard to see but the arrows point to the businesses in town. All distances are gives in steps. Guess it's not that big! Our stop for tonight is a gorgeous bnb in St. Peter's  Bay. The house was built in 1870 and the current owners have done an amazing job with renovations. Well, tomorrow is our last biking day.  We have about 60 kms left to ride to reach the most easte...

Happy Canada Day

Happy Canada Day from North Rustico...a village of about 850 people who must have bought out every Canada flag, banner and bunting from dollar stores for miles around.  This little village goes all out. They decorate homes, cars, and themselves Everyone goes to the parade. It was cute. So many kids took part in the parade, as did local services and business groups.  Floats, a celtic piping band, hockey teams....everyone was either in it or watching it. There were lots of candies being thrown out to spectators, water guns shooting water into the crowds and bubbles being blown. It was a big deal! Once the parade was over the festivities in the park began, with music, performances and food trucks. We continued with our ice cream research and found a local spot called Crickers. Double thumbs up from dad! A lovely relaxing day spent walking on the boardwalk ...and having a late lunch on the pier...more seafood.,,chowder, oysters and a seafood bake. All was delicious. Yummmmm (says ...
